Thank You Note After Job Interview

Sending The Right Thank You Note After A Job Interview

Okay you went for the interview and the person behind the desk told you: "We'll get in touch with you later". Now this might seem like a long wait but there are certain little things that you can do to make your task of getting a job a whole lot simpler and ensure that your interviewer puts you in their good books after the interview. All you simply have to do is write a Thank You Note after the job interview and send it to the interviewer. You can get the interviewers address beforehand by asking for their business card or alternatively you can always ask for their name and send the "Thank You" note care of the address of the business. It's always better if you remember to ask for the name of the interviewer after the interview. The reason is that even if they tell you their name before they start asking questions, you're liable to forget afterwards. If you ask after you've been asked the necessary questions then it's a whole lot easier to remember.

When you're about to send a "thank you" note always remember that it's always that simple and that a note should be exactly that - a note. Don't write a long letter reiterating points and sales pitches that you were meant to reply with in the main interview. The "thank you" note isn't meant to be a "sorry I said this" or "sorry I said that" letter. The interview is already done and what your "thank you" note should be trying to achieve is a bit or thoughtfulness on your part mixed with a sprinkling of behind-kissing. This in turn gives you an edge over other applicants and makes sure the interviewer remembers your name and who you are. Flattery in the right measures will get you everywhere.

Some examples of possible "thank you" notes are given below:

"Dear Mr. O'Hara, I would like to send my thanks for the opportunity I was provided to apply for the position of your clerk in your organization. I really admire your organization and I hope to hear from you sometime soon. Thanks for the opportunity! Warm regards, John Jerry" In this note you effectively laid out that you are appreciative and you're really serious about getting the job, by pointing out your admiration of their organization, you show that you really want to deliver your services and go the extra mile in order to do so.

"Dear Mr. Black, I decided to send this note to tell you of my appreciation concerning the opportunity I was given to speak with you about the waiter position. The commitment of your restaurant to service was impressive and it would be a wonderful experience to work with you. I hope you get the best person to fill the required positions available in your restaurant. Kind Regards, Matthew McCullough". You expressed the quality of the restaurant in question and although you didn't allude to yourself as the best, the chances are that since you went the extra mile, you'll definitely be considered for the job.

Remember the rules of the Thank you job note after an interview: "Keep it Simple, Keep it About the Organization, Show Your Humility and Willingness to Serve".

Thank you notes after job interview should not be dismissed. You should use them whenever possible!
